This year we will support with our Christmas present money the fund-raising cycling to Paris of Team Rynkeby. The funds donated in Finland will be directed in full to children and the young with cancer and their families through Sylva ry.
We introduce our own professionals in the #workingintheharbour series. Marketing Manager Marjo Saviranta co-ordinates and manages the Port’s marketing and communication on the whole. Her duties include e.g. arranging of customer events and fair exhibitions.
The 12th and final large-scale training of the HAZARD project took place on 28 November in the Port of Turku. Southwest Finland Emergency Services was responsible for the planning and execution of the exercise.
Kari Riutta works in the Port’s authority and security services in the combined position of Harbour Master and Port Security Officer, with emphasis on security issues. His job description includes many issues related to security and preparedness. Kari is Sea Captain by education.
Communications Assistant Aija Kallio works in the Port’s marketing team, where she started in 2009. Aija, who has completed the vocational qualification in graphic design, is responsible inter alia for various graphic projects, such as invitations and fair stands.
Shift Supervisor Timo Jokiranta works in Port Control as Shift Supervisor of vessel services and crane operations. Development Manager Markku Alahäme is responsible for the Port’s quality and safety systems as well as environmental issues. In addition, his job involves various projects, such as EU and training projects, and other development work.
Pansio is an expansion area of the Port of Turku which has been developed since the 1990s. According to Jaakko Nirhamo, Sales Director of the Port of Turku, goods transports are also developed in Pansio district.
The international cruise season in Turku closes on Monday September 3rd with the call of Silversea cruise line’s Silver Wind.
