The European Union granted nearly 800,000 euros of financing to the Port of Turku’s SecurePax project which aims at enhancing telecommunications and security with a total budget of 1.5 million euros. We are participating in Seatrade Cruise Global exhibition in Miami on 8-11 April 2019. It is the largest annual event of the cruise industry and gathers over 10,000 industry professionals from around the world. The exhibition and a parallel cruise conference will be held in the refurbished Miami Beach Convention Center.
The operations of Port of Turku Ltd developed steadily in 2018. The Port’s transport volumes were mainly at the high level achieved in the previous year, and the turnover and operating profit of the port enterprise increased slightly compared to 2017. The expectations are positive for the current financial year, too.
The Port of Turku’s own annual customer satisfaction survey was performed in December 2018. The survey was sent to a similar group of the Port’s key customers and partners as in previous years. Satisfaction with the Port of Turku was at the same high level as in 2017.
This year we will support with our Christmas present money the fund-raising cycling to Paris of Team Rynkeby. The funds donated in Finland will be directed in full to children and the young with cancer and their families through Sylva ry.
We introduce our own professionals in the #workingintheharbour series. Marketing Manager Marjo Saviranta co-ordinates and manages the Port’s marketing and communication on the whole. Her duties include e.g. arranging of customer events and fair exhibitions.
The 12th and final large-scale training of the HAZARD project took place on 28 November in the Port of Turku. Southwest Finland Emergency Services was responsible for the planning and execution of the exercise.
