The Port of Turku has prepared for preventing the spreading of the coronavirus. The Port follows the instructions of various authorities and those of the City of Turku. In order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading the following measures are in effect until further notice.

Since the 1960s cargoes have increasingly been prepackaged in unit loads, and the work of stevedoring has changed profoundly. The use of forklift trucks and cranes has also meant a demand for higher skills. The traditional work gangs have disappeared, and the number of men on the payroll has fallen very drastically.
