The Port of Turku has prepared for preventing the spreading of the coronavirus. The Port follows the instructions of various authorities and those of the City of Turku. In order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading the following measures are in effect until further notice.
The outcome of the year 2016 was financially positive. The company’s turnover increased by 7.4 per cent to EUR 22.0 million (2015: EUR 20.5 million.).Because of the positive development in turnover, the business surplus increased by 53.9 percent to EUR 5.2 million (2015: EUR 3.4 million.). The company’s investments in the financial year amounted to EUR 2.8 million, the most significant investment were the on-shore electricity connection for cruise ships and the construction of wastewater reception capacity.
Positive spirit was also reflected in traffic
In contrast to the industry trend The Port’s total traffic increased by 4.9 per cent to 2.5 million tons. Domestic and international exports stood at 1.4 million tonnes and imports 1.1 million tonnes. The positive growth was due to, among other things, the development of Finnlines’ Turku-Travemünde traffic. A total of 3.3 million (-0.5%) passengers passed through the port and the number of vessel calls was 2,006 (6.25%).
