The Port’s active approach has often been the decisive factor while competing for investments of the business world and in promoting projects aimed at developing the City’s traffic connections.

Together with the rest of the business world, the Port of Turku aims at further strengthening Turku region’s position as a key logistics hub in Finland and the Baltic Sea region. That also includes developing the logistics areas outside the Port together with the City’s Property Division and the neighbouring municipalities. The growth of the volume of goods carried through the port also increases the vitality and well-being in the whole of the Turku region.

The Port is an important employer, both directly and indirectly. The Port’s own organisation comprises around 76 people, in addition to which the other players operating in the port employ over 1,000 people. The logistics industry is estimated to employ some 10,000 people in Southwest Finland, and the turnover of the industry in the region exceeds one billion euros.
