The cargo traffic in the Port of Turku is operated by the leading shipping companies of the Baltic Sea whose modern ships serve both unit cargo transports and project shipments. Sufficient capacity and a diverse stock of vessels allow for even large export and import shipments via the Port of Turku.

Diverse stock of vessels for different transports

The emphasis of our Scandinavian traffic lies in unit cargo transports. The modern passenger car ferries carry trucks and trailers from Turku to Stockholm on four daily departures. The vessels of Viking Line and Tallink Silja have a total of nearly 4,000 lane metres of space, which means that a place for a vehicle can usually be found even at a short notice. Check-in for truck traffic is quick and flexible, and services for drivers work on board the vessels, too.

Ro-ro traffic is particularly well suited for large project shipments.

The shipping companies that run traditional cargo traffic operate from Turku both on modern ro-ro vessels and conventional cargo vessels. Thanks to diverse loading options, Turku is suited as an import and export harbour for products carried on wheels as well as machinery and components of heavy industry, and bulk cargo. In addition to liner traffic, the Port serves efficiently also demanding project loadings and vessels in coastal traffic during their port calls.
