Street reconstruction works at the port of Turku progress
The street reconstruction works at the Port of Turku are progressing. As of Wednesday 1 April, the work area will be extended to the intersection of Linnankatu and Vallihaudankatu. The traffic lights at the intersection will be temporarily out of operation.
Traffic heading to the ferry terminals and the passenger harbour will be diverted via Vallihaudankatu and Satamakatu. In addition, traffic lanes on Vallihaudankatu will be narrowed to a single lane in some sections.
Routes for pedestrians and cyclists may be subject to changes, and movement in the area will be guided with signage. The temporary traffic arrangements may slow down traffic in the area, so road users are advised to allow extra time when travelling through the area.
The contract forms part of a City of Turku project aimed at developing the surroundings of the renewed passenger harbour. The objective is to calm traffic and open up the area around Turku Castle for shared use by residents, while also improving the clarity of port traffic arrangements.
