News in the Ferry Terminal Turku project – March 2026
TERMINAL
Work on the Ferry Terminal Turku project is progressing steadily, as the construction site continues determined efforts to bring the new joint terminal to life. Around 40–50 professionals work in the area each day, and the building is advancing on several fronts simultaneously. The construction phases are well under way as the future maritime hub of the Port of Turku takes shape step by step.
The focus has increasingly shifted to interior and finishing work, and the pace on site signals that the new terminal is gradually approaching its final appearance.
Ongoing work phases
- Steel structures for the terraces
The steel structures of the terrace areas are currently being finalised. These structures will form the base for the extensive outdoor spaces that will offer passengers broad views over port operations and towards the sea. - Façade work
The terminal is gradually receiving the aluminium cladding and colour scheme based on the Origami design that won the architectural competition. This will make the building a striking landmark in the Port of Turku. The combination of aluminium and glass is a defining visual theme of the entire project, and it is now beginning to take shape on site.

The terminal is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
S1-PIER
The construction works for pier S1, which will be used by Tallink Silja, are progressing according to plan. The overall completion level is already high, and several key structural elements have been finished. At the moment, the site is focusing particularly on the remaining concrete structures and technical systems. Active work continues in the final construction segments, including pipe and cable installations as well as the construction of the structural layers required for the pier. The prolonged cold spell created its own challenges for the site, but overall, the project continues to progress steadily towards completion in June.
FIELD AREA
Work in the field area is also progressing and recent weeks, the site has focused especially on constructing underground infrastructure and piling the foundations for the lighting masts. Ongoing works are moving towards the next phases, even though winter conditions present scheduling challenges.
Current activities include extending pipeline routes, constructing the stormwater management system, and finalising the foundations for the lighting masts. Formwork and reinforcement work, excavation, and concrete casting continue across the area, and in addition, backfilling of foundations and extension of piping installations are commencing.
