News in the Ferry Terminal Turku project – December 2025
Construction at the terminal site is progressing rapidly
The heart of the Ferry Terminal Turku project, the new passenger terminal, is taking shape piece by piece. Several significant phases are currently underway at the construction site, and the overall project is advancing as planned toward completion.
In December, the following work phases have been in progress at the site:
- construction of temporary heating and related protective wall structures
- cantilever structures for the framework
- glass walls for the façade
- installation of the moving walkway
- surface flooring work (preparations for the HVAC machine room and 3rd floor restroom floors)
- partition wall work on the 1st floor
- building services installations
- earthworks on the yard side
At the same time, attention is also focused on the passenger gangways and bridges. The principle solutions for the S1 gangways and bridges have been finalized, and the detailed design phase has officially begun.
Preparations for the tendering of the S2 pier project
In the S1 pier project, which will be used by Tallink Silja, the main deck ramp was installed in early November, during weeks 45–46. Currently, work includes construction of water supply and pressure sewer lines as well as concrete works in sections C, D, and E. The site ompletion level is approximately 65%.
Plans for the S2 pier, which will be used by Viking Line, are being finalized for the tender process, and the start of construction is targeted for autumn 2026.
Construction and procurement for the field area are progressing

Construction work on the field area began in September. The work started in the northern section with the installation of stormwater and cable protection networks. In phase 2 of the field contract, work began in mid-December. Earthworks will be carried out in four preliminary stages.
Currently, the following tasks are underway on site:
- Stormwater line and preparation for connection to the city’s stormwater network
- Electrical and telecom conduits
- Installation of streetlight foundations
- Construction of structural layers and soil replacement in areas where halls have been removed
- PIMA transports
- Fencing and marking of the phase 2 contract area
Upcoming tasks:
- Piling for lighting masts in mid-January
- Construction of foundations for lighting masts
Procurement decision for SmartPort IT system and software will be made in early 2026.
