Port of Turku wants to remember children and young people and those in need with its Christmas donation
Turku Port has a long and storied history, during which port operations have grown into a significant driver of regional vitality. Even today, our activities at Turku Port continue to strengthen the local economy in many ways: we are a major economic player in Southwest Finland, employing professionals from various fields, and our commitment to environmental responsibility will bear fruit far into the future. We want to take responsibility for future generations, support those whose stories are only just beginning, and help those in need during times of distress.
This Christmas, we have decided to make donations to the Joulupuu charity campaign in the Turku region and to the Finnish Heart Association to help maintain the national defibrillator registry.
Funds donated to the Joulupuu campaign are used to purchase gifts and gift cards for children in vulnerable situations. Any surplus funds are directed at initiatives that benefit children and young people throughout the year. Gifts are distributed locally through trusted social services and organizations – without unnecessary intermediaries or costs.
The Finnish Heart Association maintains defi.fi, a service that shows the location of the nearest defibrillator. The service is also used by emergency dispatch centers and the official 112 app. With over 11,000 registered defibrillators, the platform helps locate the closest device in an emergency – saving lives when every second counts.
We hope that through our donations we can bring Christmas joy to children and young people who might otherwise go without and support an important cause by helping maintain the defibrillator registry.
We warmly thank all our customers and partners for the fruitful collaboration throughout the past year. Together, we have built operations that strengthen the vitality and sense of community in the Turku region.
Port of Turku wishes you a peaceful and warm Christmas season!
