Redevelopment of Turku port area affects traffic arrangements

NEWS - Redevelopment of Turku port area affects traffic arrangements

The surroundings of Turku Passenger Port and Turku Castle are being redeveloped between 2025 and 2028. The project includes the construction of new streets, pedestrian and cycling paths, and landscaped areas. The aim is to create a calmer, more accessible public space around the castle and to improve traffic flow in the port area.

The construction work is already impacting traffic. The port-side section of Linnankatu,
between Vallihaudankatu and Toinen poikkikatu, was closed in early September. All traffic is redirected via detour routes until summer 2026.

Passenger cars, buses, and service traffic to the port terminals are rerouted via
Vallihaudankatu and Satamakatu. Pedestrians and cyclists can also use Nuottasaarenkatu. All detour routes are clearly marked with traffic signs and guidance is provided for both cyclists and pedestrians.
