The distribution cluster of the Ovako area keeps on growing

The Port of Turku has achieved a strong position as the most important Finnish distribution centre for Scandinavian traffic. Strengthening the logistic importance of the Turku region as a whole, the development has been enabled by the great effort put into logistics construction in co-operation with the customers.

In spring 2007, a distribution centre with a floor area of almost 22,000 square metres was built in the Ovako area. It has been let on long-term lease to Schenker Cargo Oy. Because of the high utilisation rate, the efficient distribution warehouse was completed with the 10,000 square metre extension in autumn 2009.

Next to Schenker Cargo a logistics centre of 27,000 square metres was completed end of year 2009 for Posten Logistik SCM Oy, a subsidiary of the Swedish Post. The centre to be located by the railway to Uusikaupunki can later be extended by 11,000 square metres.
