Environmental policy

The Port of Turku aims at continuously developing environmental issues and improving the quality of the environment by taking the principles of sustainable development into account. The Port´s goal is to keep the environmental hazards caused by its operations to a minimum.

The Port´s personnel need to be aware of the environmental impacts resulting from their operations. The Port of Turku is aware of and complies with the environmental laws and regulations concerning the Port´s operations.

On the basis of environmental aspects of operations which it considers significant, the Port draws up annually an environmental management programme that defines the individual actions for improving environmental issues in the Port and preventing contamination of the environment.

The environmental aspects are taken into consideration and they are followed while developing the port operations. The Port also requires a similar standard of operations from its partners. The views of different interest groups are also taken into account in the development of the Port's environmental issues.
